To configure your Wireless Access Point (Router) to use the WPA2

Point

To configure your Wireless Access Point (Router) to use the WPA2-Enterprise security mode, you have to:

  1. Identify the IP address of your wireless router
  2. Access router’s Web Administration interface
  3. Change wireless security settings
We recommend to use Ethernet cable to temporarily connect your computer to the wireless router. This will allow you to access internet and revert changes in case of problems. 

1. Identify the IP address of your wireless router

  • Press  Win + R to show the Run dialog box
  • Type in cmd and press Enter to open command prompt
  • Type in ipconfig and press Enter to show network settings
  • Scroll up and find parameter Default Gateway with four numbers next to it. These numbers, e.g. 192.168.0.1, are your router’s IP address

2. Access router’s Web Administration interface

  • Open new browser window and type in the router’s IP address
  • The web page will prompt you for logon credentials

Some popular are:

  • TP-Link – default username is admin, password is admin
  • Netgear – default username is admin, password is password or 1234
  • Asus – default username is admin, password is admin

You can visit http://portforward.com/default_username_password/ to find default password to your router or look into manual.

3. Change Wireless Security settings

  • Find section where you configure Wireless Security settings.
  • Enable the WPA2-Enterprise option (802.1x) and enter these RADIUS server values:
RADIUS server IP: assigned_IP_address (eg. 81.89.56.94)
RADIUS server Port: assigned_port_number (eg. 4000)
Shared Secret: assigned_secret (eg. lkaj23nd)

Make a note of your user’s credentials. You will need them to connect to your wireless network

Password: generated_password

 

  • Restart router
